Burn Permits

NOTE: When obtaining a Burn Permit with the online system, you will NOT receive a copy of a permit. Should we respond to your location, our firefighters will be able to verify that you have a permit.

Burning is only allowed in areas within the district that are OUTSIDE the city limits of The Dalles by City of The Dalles Ordinance.

BURNING WITHIN THE CITY OF THE DALLES IS NOT ALLOWED AT THIS TIME.

Burning will resume in the spring. If you have a permit, are within the city limits, and have obtained you permit through Community Connect, you will have recently received an email stating that your permit has been revoked. When burning resumes in the spring, your permit will be valid again until either June 30th or an earlier date if burning is banned sooner.

When burning is open, permits are required for outdoor burning within Mid-Columbia Fire and Rescue, including within the City of The Dalles.

Permits are available online 24/7 by clicking the links below. Please follow all of the instructions.

Permits can usually be obtained at the main fire station, during regular business hours, Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. 

 

 Burn barrels or incinerators are NOT allowed in the city limits by City of The Dalles Ordinance.

A $5.00 cost recovery fee is NO LONGER required for Burn Permits as of 10/18/24 at 11:45 AM.

A Burn Permit is required to burn anywhere within the boundaries of Mid-Columbia Fire and Rescue. This includes areas inside the city limits of The Dalles and areas outside of the city 

To obtain a Burn Permit, please visit the Community Connect link below.  It will take you to a website called Mid-Columbia Community Connect.

Permits are generally available at the fire station 1400 W 8th Monday through Friday 8 Am to 5 PM.

You must create a profile on this website. Once your profile is created, then you return to the Main Page of Community Connect and apply for a permit.

NOTE: When filling out the form for the permit, at the top of the page, in the "permit type" field, select Mid-Columbia FD Burn Permit. After reviewing the Burn Permit information, and about halfway down the page (just below Section 6) you must enter the date that you are applying for the permit.
