Some things to note about outdoor burning in Mid-Columbia's fire district.

  • All permits purchased earlier in 2019-2020 expired June 30th.
  • Burning within the city limits of The Dalles is only allowed between October 16 to December 1 and April 1 to May 14 of each year, assuming there is not a burn ban in effect at the time.
  • Burning, when allowed, can only take place during daylight hours.
  • Even if burning during an allowed time, you could be held liable for any damage an escaped fire might cause.  You could also be billed for the costs of the response by the fire district or our mutual aid partners no matter how small or large the response.
