Burn Permits

Burning outside the city limits will resume on October 6th starting 12:01 AM, however Burn Permits will not be available until after 8:00 AM Thursday October 6 either online or in person at Fire Station 1, 1400 W. 8th Street, The Dalles. Burning is only allowed with a valid permit.

Burning can only take place during daylight hours.

As usual, burn barrels or incinerators are NOT allowed in the city limits by City of The Dalles Ordinance.

A $5.00 fee (cost recovery) is collected for Burn Permits. Permits can be obtained online (see below) or can be purchased at the Fire Station. Cash or Check only at the fire station. Credit Cards can only be accepted online.

Burn Permits are always required with Mid-Columbia Fire and Rescue which includes the City of The Dalles. To obtain a permit you can purchase the permit online by clicking on Burn Permit above (Credit Card or Paypal is required for online purchasing). To obtain the permit in person, please visit the fire station at 1400 W. 8th Street, The Dalles. Credit Cards are NOT accepted at the station. Cash or Checks only.

Burn Information

  • There is NO burning allowed anywhere within Wasco County starting July 1, 2017 until fire season ends.
  • When burning resumes in the fall (date to be determined), permits are always required to burn, regardless of your location within the Fire District.
  • Burn barrels are no longer allowed inside the city limits.
